Fear can be crippling. It is what keeps most of us from taking action and getting the results we want. But how do we navigate through our fears?
Know that it’s normal
If you have fears, know that you are not alone. Everyone has or has had a fear at some stage. Do not beat yourself up about having fears as a new entrepreneur. It is normal and every entrepreneur goes through it.
Let fear guide you, not control you
Fear can be useful if we change our mindset around fears and how we perceive it. Use your fear as a guide, to show you aspects of yourself and your business that you need to work on, rather than as an excuse not to take action.
Reminder yourself of your previous wins
Taking the first step is always the hardest. Look back on all the first steps you had to take and did. Remind yourself of all your previous wins and keep a journal of them that you can go back to when needed.
Look at "failure" as lessons
If you’re afraid to fail, you will always stay stuck. Rather look at failure as lessons. You either win, or you learn.
Always be learning/ growing
Learning and growing is the only way to make progress. Every fear you overcome is learning and growing in the right direction. If you are unsure about something or you don’t know the correct action to take, learn more about it. Expand your knowledge and experience so that you can make better decisions.
We are all fearful at some point in our business, especially during these times of uncertainty. My biggest words of advice are to not go it alone. Surround yourself with a community of people to help guide you, support you, and cheer you on. Also, get the help of a coach who help you take the most direct line to your goals, because they have the business and lived experience to guide you.
